JUNIOR YEAR

“Junior year is the busiest year of the high school level”, as what Ms. Jade Ann Maaliao, the Social Studies teacher of the High School department stated when the Junior students shared something about their hectic schedules.

As a junior student, I, myself can really say that we are really busy nowadays even though we aren't halfway of the school year yet. There are instances that I can see my classmates' faces that they really startled about a certain thing, especially if that thing is about our co-curricular activity. In a simple way, I can prove that we are experiencing conflicts between our schedules. An example of that is during our scouting time, I can really see my classmates' leadership when it comes to handling the lower levels. Why? Because the junior students were addressed to become the troupe leaders in each patrol. Most of us complain about the schedules and activities that we are going through right this year. Kathryn Macaya, our class treasurer once stated, “Oh my gosh! The life of a junior student is really hard and challenging, our schedules are so hectic unlike before!” Imagine how our class treasurer realized that today's happenings serve as obstacles for us that we must overcome. These things are just a part of being a student. Every student has responsibilities. He plays a big role in the society. In the realm of life, education is one of the many means to success. Though this thing is just so common to students, still we find this thing too complex. The reason maybe because of the new things that the school is having and encountering these days. As an old student, I really find it hard to adopt the new environment that we are in. All things are just so new but still, it is a part of being an Angelican.

These things may not be difficult nor it is considered hectic. The thing is that we are taking things so seriously these days as if every day is a busy day which seems to be a good pace of life. We still are students that's why we feel that our time is getting shorter everytime we focus on things.

The start of a new beginning.

New beginnings always means a lot to someone or even to a group of goal oriented people or organizations. This the the chance to improve past mistake and to apply what one has learned over the past years. Last June 16, 2010 Angelicum Learning Center together with it's administrative staff and teacher held the Class opening for school year 2010 to 2011. This was the moment everyone was waiting for. Students get to spend time with their close friends from after a few months of vacation, everybody get the chance to see new faces and new services the school had to offer. One of the most exciting sight was the new and well painted colors of the school where in student get the impressing the this school year would be very fun and exciting.

Whats nice about Angelicum Learning Center is it started the school year with God's blessing and guidance. A mass was held in the morning and the message of the priest was to focus and be serious about school and not get distracted with things that would hinder you from learning and improving as a student of Angelicum Learning Center. In the afternoon teachers were able to showcase their skills, talents and what they can offer for the growth of the school and the learners. The students got the chance to see their favorite teacher and other student had the chance to see new teacher.

Class orientations and subject orientation was on June 17,2010. Where student were able to get the feel of their new environment. Class rooms were well planned that even the new students were able to the warmth and belonging in the school. During that day student had the chance to elect their set of officers and were oriented by their respective class advisers on the students hand book of Angelicum and the rules and regulations to be followed in the class room.

The third day marked the beginning of meeting new teacher and seeing again or old and favorite teachers. June 18, 2010 was the subject orientation of the students. Each subject teacher was able to inform their student what they will be expecting for the school year. In the afternoon the school had its very first Parents Orientation for the School year of 2010 to 2011. As we aim to grow and improve unity between parents and teachers should be evident since both have the same goal and responsibility to mold the student into well educated, highly valued and respected citizens of the community.

Indeed the start of Angelicum Learning Center for a new beginning has begun. New opportunities and new ways to improve the education and values of its student. The school opening was a huge success and I believe that each people behind Angelicum Learning Center will give their best efforts in being the best school in Cagayan de Oro City. The ANGELICUM LEARNING CENTRE believes that each child has his own capacity and speed of learning. On this basis, each child is encouraged to proceed as fast as his ability permits him.

The ANGELICUM LEARNING CENTRE believes that good teaching must be eclectic, diagnostic and individualized. It incorporates a variety of methods stressing balance and utilizing research on how children learn best.

Brief History of Angelicum Learning Centre, Inc.

BRIEF HISTORY OF ANGELICUM LEARNING CENTRE , INC.

Angelicum Learning Centre was virtually founded in 1980 when it was granted with its temporary permit to operate by the Department of Education Culture and Sports. It started as a small school which admitted thirty-three children from the neighborhood when it was still located in a residential house in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. It was founded by the late Dr. Lucio G. Parantar while his better half, Amelia Q. Parantar became the first teacher.

Angelicum Learning Centre has also written a history of having an extension school in Reyes Village Subdivision in Bugo, which moved two years after at PN Roa Subdivision, Cala-anan, Cagayan de Oro City. In 1982, another extension school was established in Butuan City which until now, is still progressive and had earned a separate permit.

In the school's first years of operation, it had seen an increase in the number of students enrolled and by the time it reached the year 1989, Angelicum Learning Centre produced its first six graduates in the Elementary level. With an increasing number of request from parents to follow-up its elementary graduates, the Secondary Education Department was launched and eventually, Angelicum Learning Centre produced its first batch of High School graduates in 1996.

Since then and up until the present, Angelicum Learning Centre had taken an active participation not only in the academic aspect but also in the various fields such as sports, journalism, leadership, arts, and in communication. Students had excelled not only in the four walls of the classroom but also took its toll as active participants in different competitions that showcased their talents in academics, extraordinary artistic abilities, enthusiasm and healthy competition in various sports and effective communication skills. These were the concrete manifestations of the school's vision then that education should make the students academically and technologically literate with a strong moral foundation and spiritual values. This was true to the ideals and principles of the founder that no child is alike and therefore, should be nurtured in almost different but humane ways.

In the outbreak of the 21st century, the creation of the so called “Multi-Intelligence School” as approved by the Administration and Faculty was inaugurated. With this program, the school envisioned the development of the fullest potentials of every Angelican with innovative education, integrated with character values that paved the way for a newly-improved academe. Moreover, Multi-intelligent classroom strategies and clubs were inculcated so as to improve the multi-faceted talents of Angelicans side by side with their inherent potentials and in their pursuit of academic excellence. With this in mind, classes and clubs that cater to the various interests of its learners were organized.

To date, Angelicum Learning Centre's administrators and staffs continue to provide the needs of parents and 472 enrollees consisting 106 preschool pupils, 260 elementary pupils and 106 high school students. The population of teachers over the years rose from just a single teacher to now 34 full-time teachers who are united towards the attainment of the newly launched school's vision.
